Our Helpful Tips
1. Keep oil tank above 1/4 full. When it goes below it stirs up any sediment or moisture in tank and can cause burner failure.
2. Set your thermostat at 68 degrees and leave it. Do not adjust it up and down. Your body has a hard time adjusting to changing temperatures.
3. Check and replace fuses if furnace is not working. If you press reset (once only) and nothing occurs, 99% of the time it is due to the fuse or emergency switch.
4. Your furnace should be cleaned and inspected once a year on a regular basis to maximize oil efficiency and check overall condition of furnace and tank.
5. Make sure air filters are replaced at the start of the heating season. They are relatively inexpensive and can be purchased at local hardware stores. Have them on hand when you have your yearly maintenance and the technician can replace it for you.
6. Make sure dryers are properly vented to the outside. Dust in air intake causes poor combustion.
7. Put light colours paper under inside tank (only). Check frequently for a wet spot in the middle of the paper.
8. Only allow registered technicians to service your equipment.
9. Ensure Company working on your heating systems and tank have environmental and liability insurance.
